At the heart of the fragrance is vetiveryl acetate, a hybrid molecule that is half natural and half synthetic. It is distilled from a fraction of vetiver oil extracted from the roots of an Indian grass and then "crossed" with acetic acid to remove the bitter and leathery aspects of the root.

In its composition,Escentric 03 pays homage to the three most important roots in perfumery: vetiver, ginger and iris (orris), which is extracted from the roots of the Florentine iris. "With Escentric 03, I wanted to highlight the scent impressions of these roots and show how they harmonize with each other," says perfumer Geza Schoen.

The top note is dominated by ginger, which, together with lime peel and green pepper, creates a lively, green and spicy freshness. The heart of the fragrance is a rich, velvety combination of iris, Egyptian jasmine and tea notes. In the drydown, Escentric 03 emphasizes the dark, green woody notes of vetiver in combination with sandalwood, cedarwood, soft balsams and musk.
